Even in an Era where intellectual brilliance seems common...Charlise has always been above and beyond in that respect....making 4.0's in school left and right and graduating with every imaginable honor....to her, anything less would be unacceptable. Charlise is a perfectionist in the extreme...she's always been that way and she's always set the bar exceptionally high for herself in all aspects of her life. Like...in school, it wasn't enough for her to make a perfect 4.0 every year, she ALSO had to see to it that she was on leadership every year getting things done around the school and making a name for herself. Charlise is...incredibly status conscious, her social standing and position have always been important to her in school...and even as an adult, her focus still remains on getting ahead and above everyone else..working her way up that social ladder into positions of authority. She can be...somewhat superficial...its worth saying that she's pretty judgmental..harshly so...especially when it comes to the matter of people she sees as inferior. Charlise has a strong dislike of natural-borns and an especial hatred of disfigureds...individuals she sees as subhuman and worthless...individuals who could never live up to her standards. She really is...admittedly lacking in the compassion department there, following a survival-of-the-fittest type mentality when it comes to her views on people....those that are superior survive, and those that are inferior die out, and that's the way it should be. What's more, Charlise is one of those who has HER ways of thinking how something should be done, and HER standards for which people should live by...and she expects these to be followed to a T. She can be...really controlling in that respect...one good example being how she is with her kids and grandkids; she's always expected nothing less than the best from them, in school, in work, and in their relationships. Even from when the kids were young...Charlise made it a point of matter to see to it that they were attending the best Exclusive school, making the best grades, getting ahead of everyone else, and dating the 'right' types of people....and she'd be on their case ina heartbeat if she detected any sort of...potential issue. And even outside the family..like....if she's heading up some kind of research project, she'll expect EVERYONE on that team to follow her instructions and do things her way....it pisses her off to no end to have to deal with people that don't follow her directions. Probably one of the best examples of this would be back around when she was fifteen or so...and she was leading a research project which required the testing of potential vaccines on 'disfigured' human subjects....and one of her colleagues..a particularly religious girl, was going on about HOW WRONG THAT IS!1 D: Charlise...after dealing with this for awhile, eventually threatened to have the girl removed from the work project or even booted out of the class altogether if she didn't stop being such a pain in the ass. She really...has no patience for people that get in her way or don't see things the way she does...and she has no issue with tearing them a new asshole if they so provoke her into doing so. When Charlise has her mind set on accomplishing something, its definitely...not a good idea to get in her way. Once she sets her mind to a goal, there's just about nothing that can stop her from it...shell go for it with unstoppable perseverance. This has proved to a strength at times..and a weakness in others. It was her fervent dedication to her work that lead to the development of multiple vaccines...and it was that same hard-headed drive that caused her to once lose her job. (Though its worth noting she later won it back) She is really...really stubborn..and very opinionated...Charlise has her ways of thinking and unless you can scientifically/factually prove her wrong...she'll always see her way as the right way. And being as stubbornly opinionated as she is..Charlise is...very pushy when it comes to her own viewpoints...very outspoken and won't hesitate to fight for them in a debate...and being intelligent, clever, and mentally quick as she is..winning a debate with her can be something of a challenge. She tends to believe she's always right, will go to great lengths to push her opinions on other people and make sure they see things the 'right' way...and won't stop until they do. Like...her daughter-in-law Nikhila...is a big believer in things like natural birth and showing compassion to those..less fortunate individuals; her overall belief system is one that conflicts pretty strongly with Charlise...and Charli has reamed her out pretty mercilessly on numerous occasions for it. In her mind, Nikhila's beliefs are completely ass-backwards and Nikki NEEDS Charlise's help to change and see things the right way. Its partially that Charlise thinks she's doing Nikki a favor, and partially that...honestly...sometimes she just likes to debate |D; Charlise loves to flaunt her opinions and viewpoints and debate them...often to the point where she'll intentionally provoke an argument just so that she can have a chance to do so. The only time she'll really get mad though is if you engage her in a discussion about religion. Charlise is as atheistic as it gets...she's never believed in the idea of a higher power because its never been scientifically proven that one exists...and in her mind, if you can't prove the existence of something using facts and science, it doesn't exist. To top it all off, she sees it as a stumbling block not only to science itself..but to her own research, having run into 'ethical' barriers before...and honestly, she sees religion as a disease of the mind. Science is her 'higher power' and she dedicates herself to it the way a priest dedicates himself to God..which I guess is kind of an ironic analogy. Its things like that..her disregard for 'ethics'... that can make her seem..well..insensitive..and yeah sometimes she can be, but ultimately, her work is for people's good...like all those vaccines she's developed...countless lives saved and improved. I guess its another thing worth noting is Charlise's tendency to over-think things..sometimes missing an obvious solution because she's too busy in some higher-thought process. It could be attributed to the fact that she's more the type to...make decisions based entirely on thought and logic and science as opposed to feelings...as far as females go she really isn't over-emotional. Like...she'll focus more on accomplishing something in the laboratory than being around her family...even when her kids were kids it was that way too..she was never the type of mom to cuddle and hug and kiss them and tell them she LOVED! them...I guess her affection and pride in them was more of an implied kind of thing.

He's extremely intuitive and clever...like...when faced with a problem, he can easily think up and run through many different solution paths in his mind, analyzing each one and its consequences with little effort......and its that combination of intuition and intellect that makes him an excellent strategist...an invaluable trait to have when it comes to his job. He's self-confident...extremely so...sometimes bordering on proud....and for the most part tends to believe that he's always right...and although in most cases, that usually is the truth...it can make him seem...like he has something of a pride issue. And while Conan definitely carries himself with an all-over sense of pride, often times, he fails to realize his own pride often alchemizes into arrogance. Its no surprise though...Conan honestly isn't the type to see his own flaws, especially not as others might see them...because he doesn't have a whole lot of honest interest in feelings and how he makes people feel about him...if that makes sense. He goes through life and makes decisions through logic and reason as opposed to using feelings and emotions...and often times this may make him seem more insentitive than he is or than he intends to be...the truth is..he's just not an emotional kind of guy...talking about his feelings and talking to people about their feelings is not something he does. Being as he is...Conan is somewhat difficult to get to know deeply as he is quite serious-minded and doesn't readily spill his guts to everyone he meets...meaning...he doesn't particularly like to share his feelings...and he can come off as somewhat aloof...at least upon first meeting him. He's really pretty serious and work-oriented in nature...he knows how to get work done and to do that work to the best of his abilities. There's just about nothing that can phase him...he never feels remotely intimidated by anything...person or situation...and its one of his..admirable traits you could say, is that he won't crack under pressure...in fact..he seems to excel at working under it. Like his father....Conan tends to be somewhat of a workaholic...often putting work before all else....he likes to feel that he's doing something useful and productive....and being at work makes him feel accomplished...he likes being able to look back at the end of the day and see that he's done something worthwhile. Conan is happiest when he's acheived something...whether its bringing down a criminal or pioneering some new technology in the crime lab...he's the type who measures the value of his own life by his accomplishments and achievements...its how he's always been. With that being said though, Conan does have a less serious side to him that those close to him will see...he does know how to let loose and have fun once in awhile....he has a sarcastic wit and dry sense of humor, to those he is close to, he can be fun to be around and talk to. c:

To say that she obsesses over looks would be an understatement in the extreme....she is ALL about looks, and sets the bar high in that department for herself, and for others. To her, a person's appearance and attractiveness is the most important thing about them, the ONE thing that matters above all else, and its with this belief that she shapes her own behavior; Crysta eats like she's on a never-ending diet, goes to the gym every Saturday and Sunday with her girlfriends, and spends hours upon hours a week working out in her own personal gym room at home....all to ensure she stays in beautiful physical shape. To her, even the slightest sign of 'fat' is completely unacceptable. Everything in her wardrobe is a size one, designer, and expensive; she does all her shopping at the most expensive malls and districts and insists on everything she owns being of top quality...you'll never see her out without one of her many Chanel purses or Louis Vuitton totes. She is...very materialistic. Fashion is one of the most important things to her....and shopping is probably one of the single most important tasks she does; she makes it top priority to be up on all the latest trends and wearing the newest styles and looks...and it all goes back to one thing- her pride and vanity and philosophy that looks are all important. If Crysta believes in anything, its the Coco Chanel quote, "A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.", and it is to that mantra that she lives by, and the mantra she encourages her daughters to live by as well (Her daughter Jillian has adopted this phrase as her personal motto). Nothing is more important than making herself look good; anytime you see her, you can guarantee that she'll be perfectly outfitted in the latest style with matching shoes and accessories, makeup done just right, nails French-manicured, and the whole nine yards....even for the smallest of errands, she'll see to it that she's looking perfect, and won't leave the house until she's done so, it is..THE most important thing to her. Crysta is a perfectionist in the extreme, with her, EVERYTHING about her has to be just perfect, if one thing is out of place, it drives her crazy..and she will obsess over it until its fixed....like if she puts on a quarter of a pound, she will not let herself rest until that quarter-of-a-pound is burned off. And its not just herself that she holds to these extremely high standards....this is what she expects out of others as well; like she'll spend hours at the mall with her kids picking out the perfect outfits for them and making sure that they're all looking not acceptable, but beautiful (or handsome in her son's case asdffd). She taught her daughters from early on how to do their hair to perfection and apply makeup like an artist, and from day one, she's been sure to raise them up with her beliefs and philosophies about beauty, perfection, and status, which is another thing that bears touching on. For Crysta, the only thing thats up there with fashion and style is social status, and maintaining her place as one of the social elite. Ever since her elementary school days, Crysta's major goal in life was to get ahead, to rise above, to be, for lack of better word, popular....and together with her little clique, that's exactly what she did all throughout school. If you asked her to list her biggest achievements in high school, she would name taking first in her school's fashion/modeling competition four years in a row, being crowned multi-time Homecoming Queen, and being Vice-President of her high school's class council through all four years, in that order. Note the absence of anything academic....to Crysta, being intelligent is good, but being beautiful and popular... is so much better. Crysta is not at all a modest individual...she is vain in the extreme and bordering on downright conceited...and has a tendency to patronize and talk down to those she feels are 'below' her. She's very opinionated....and has a tendency to be somewhat controlling as she has a need to take charge and make sure everything is done to her perfectionist high-standards....her belief is that SHE is making an effort to make everything better off, and that if people would see things HER way and listen to HER, the world would be a better place. Crysta thinks she is absolutely gorgeous, popular, and is one of those people that is just entirely oblivious to her own flaws...the biggest ones being her pride, too-high standards, and shallowness. She expects so much out of herself and out of others, and has no patience of empathy for those that fall below "The Standard". Crysta is one of those that takes so much pride in her Synthetic Birth status and is one of those that has no compassion at all for those of natural birth....and she has an especial loathing of 'disfigureds', referring to the latter as mutants, monsters...and non-humans. They disgust her in a way nothing else can, and every day, she emphazises to her children (and to her niece and nephew anytime they happen to be around) how IMPORTANT it is NEVER to go near or even LOOK AT a 'disfigured' and NEVER to have a child the non-Synthetic way, lest they bring one of these monsters into the world. Crysta has no compassion for them at all whatsoever...in her mind, they're ugly...and in her mind, ugly = worthless. She is..very judgmental in that respect...with her perfectionist standards and all...probably to an even greater extreme than her mother Charlise. The one good side of her high standards though is that....she's very dedicated in all aspects of her life. She works hard at her job...seeing to it that NO deadline is missed and no document goes unfiled...she pushes herself hard when it comes to work standards, and so its no surprise that she's worked her way up to the top ranks at the magazine company. She's also really involved with, and supportive of, her kids' lives as well; she pushes them to maintain top grades (though she's not quite as hard on them as her parents were on her), makes sure they're making efforts to get involved and be up-there in terms of social status, and sees to it that they're making all the 'right' friends. She really does care about her kids...those three are her pride and joy, HER offspring, and she'll except nothing less than the best for, and from, them. Not only does she make sure her kids are surrounded with all the 'right' people, but she makes she that she HERSELF is as well....and she loves nothing more than getting together for a big party or social event with some of her many other high-society friends. She is...a VERY social type of person....does a lot of entertaining...loves being the center of attention and conversation amid her wide and extensive network of friends and acquaintances, and is well-known as a high-end socialite...having gained especial prominence during her marriage to Victor. For all its worth though, she really isn't THAT terrible...she may be many things; vain, snobby, judgmental, perfectionistic, status-obsessed...but she really isn't a bad person. Once you actually get to know her...underneath the shallow exterior is nearly always good intentions; she sets perfectionistic standards because she believes that if people would only live up to those standards as she does, the world would be a better place...people as a whole would be better off...although it annoys her to no end when people don't see it her way. Its worth saying too that underneath all that self-confident pride and high standards...she actually does have a sweeter side, something that anyone who really knows her can attest to.

He's just about fearless in that respect, even as a real little kid he wanted to go on the biggest rollercoasters at the theme park, take his skateboard off the big jumps at the park, and learn to snowboard even when his mom and sisters stuck with their skis; he's the ADVENTUROUS type who's not content to just...go with the flow and lead a simple and unassuming life like everyone else, to him...that wouldn't really be living. Spirited and fun-loving, he's almost always found hanging out with his daredevil cousin Konnor and best friend Ace, with the three of them always on the lookout for some new crazy stunt to try, some new way to live it up, to make life an adventure. Its another thing that characterizes his personality...he's brave and fearless, there's nothing at all that can daunt him and nothing that anyone could say to make him believe he can't do something. If he sets his mind to accomplishing something, he'll stick it through no matter what, and won't give up. Like if he's playing in a football game at school...his team could be down thirty points but he wouldn't give up even then, he'd give that game his all and do his very best to pull through with the team, even if it really looked like a win wasn't going to happen. You'd never see him just roll over and give up or be all like 'oh well better luck next time'. A lot of that..strong perseverance comes from his natural confidence...he's always been very self-assured...the type who never loses faith in himself. His personality is characerized by a strong and nearly unshakeable optimism...although like anyone else he does have his doubting moments...he's the type who always sees the sun through the clouds, focuses on the light at the end of the tunnel instead of the darkness all around him, and that optimism is what makes up such a huge part of who he is. His belief is that he can do anything he sets his mind to, that if you really believe in yourself and you put forth a true effort to succeed, there's nothing that can't be accomplished. Quitters never win, and winners never quit...that would definitely be one of his personal sayings...mantras...words he lives by. He won't give up, and will stick to his beliefs no matter what and no matter who stands against him....if he believes something is right, he'll stand up for it with everything he is. With all that being said though...Ryan's self-assured confidence is something genuine...he is not arrogant or cocky....you'll never see him putting people down to raise himself up, or strutting around like he's OH SO COOL and owns everything he sees...that's not..who he is. That confidence does however provide a characteristic central flaw....the fact that his confidence and optimism is so great that he often overestimates himself and his abilities, to the point of being downright unrealistic without realizing it. Back to the football game example...his team could be down thirty points with two minutes left in the game and Ryan will STILL believe that they CAN pull out a victory...and encourage his teammates to believe this as well...which in the end, all that's going to happen is that they'll get their hopes up for nothing because most likely, that won't happen. It doesn't take much to see that...he really is a genuine guy; with Ryan, what you see is typically what you get...he's not the type to lie or keep a lot of secrets...it just..bothers him to keep things like that inside. He's definitely more the outgoing type, fun-loving, likes to talk, likes being around others...and seems to have a knack for making friends....being as personable and friendly as he is by nature. When one really gets to know him....one will find that...he really is a sweet guy; he'll do anything for those he's close to...and always sees to it to make sure that they're happy. There's really nothing more fun for him than hanging out with his friends and family...or his girlfriend Essie...of whom it can honestly be said that he loves more than anything in the world....he'd go to the ends of the Earth just to see her smile. c: He's straightforward and honest without being blunt....like, if you were to go back to the football example, instead of telling his friend Rei that Rei's catching sucks, Ryan would probably tell him something more along the lines of how his catch needed some work. Its open and to the point....but never harsh. His honesty, confidence, and people skills give him a talent for leadership...and its always in the leadership roles that you'll find him; whether its leader of a project at school, or captain of the school's football or basketball team....he's always gravitated towards positions where he can take the lead. His confidence in himself is tempered by his genuine and friendly personality...and in group situations, he's always the one to really get people motivated...that knack for persuading and motivating people being one of the better traits he got from his father. Unlike Victor though, Ryan isn't the type of leader who insists that HIS way is right and demands that everyone follow and obey him whether they like it or not....Ryan will actually LISTEN to what others have to say...even if he may be captain of the team and he's come up with an idea for a play...if someone else has their own idea, he'll listen and give them some thought; he doesn't just ignore people if they have something to say to him...he really does care about what other people have to say, think, and feel. Its...hard for him to just be outright mean to someone, and anytime he is, you can bet he'll always be the first one to step up and give the apology. Like...after Nixie had her little...incident which got Ryan and the rest of the group pretty pissed at her...Ryan was the first one to go and apologize for how he'd treated her, and for the fact that the way he'd acted was not acceptable. He's...I guess you could say honorable in that respect...apologizing isn't a massive struggle for him, its the right thing to do, and he'll do it without feeling like its some kind of threat to his dignity. Like...if he's playing in a basketball game and he accidentally knocks over and injures one of the other team's players...he'll say he's sorry and help them back up. Not in any kind of overly sappy way but just...you know..a quick apology. While he is competitive and plays to win...he never gets to the point where he'll screw over someone else just to maintain a winning streak....in his mind, that's below him. Ryan is...like his mother in that he sets...really high standards for himself...though his are more in regards to who he is and what he does. This...isn't necessarily something that's obvious upon meeting him...but he really does expect a lot out of himself...and it bothers him when he isn't meeting these standards. Ryan drives and expects himself to be the guy..the leader...the one that people believe him to be. Even from the time he was little, he's always..dreamed of being the "Hero", the one that everyone looks up to and believes in....the one that's always there when people need him...and that dream is a pretty big defining trait of who he is. He's always LOVED his superhero comics and movies (especially the Superman ones)...and there's no denying that he always has, and still does, believe that someday, somehow...one day, he'll be a hero too in his own way. c:

Jillian's shallowness and high standards tend to lead her to be easily critical of other people....she judges someone from the moment she lays eyes on them, and she judges almost entirely based on appearances. If the person is cute or nicely-dressed, they're worth getting to know. If the person is...hard on the eyes...or their outfit isn't quite up to par, or they otherwise don't meet her standards....they aren't worth getting to know. She's so...absorbed with perfection that, like her grandmother Charlise, Jillian has a fervent hatred of "disfigureds" and natural-borns....people she sees as non-human and second class, respectively...and she will not hesitate to voice this opinion. Like...one time, Jillian's out shopping with her mom and sister when she spots a "disfigured" kid...and immediately proceeds to point the child out to Crysta all like EWW MOM LOOK! D: ITS SO GROSS WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT???? and of course Crysta...being the socialite perfectionist she is...only reinforced the behavior by explaining to her daughters that that was a "disfigured"...a kind of...sub-human..mutation that can result from people not using the Synthetic Birth System. Of course, in addition to feeling the need to point out what appalled her, Jillian had also made a big deal about it to, let's face it, get attention. Jill...likes to be the center of attention, and going back again to the fashion thing, there's nothing that makes her happier than to show up to school in some expensive new outfit and have every head turning her way...acknowledging her status as one of the popular elite. Along with that though...she does have a tendency to go out of her way to try and get attention...often elaborating on some story or experience of hers and embellishing it to make it that much more interesting...even if that means weaving some...non-truths in there as well. Like....if she went to her grandparents' house later after the 'disfigured' incident, you can BET she would not only tell them about the HIDEOUS MONSTER she saw...but 'elaborate' on just how awful it was and how EVERYONE was terrified and running away from it and the whole works and how she was SO SCARED!!1 D: Even if that would mean telling a story of mostly non-truths...Jill would tell it anyways because she knows it would get their attention. Its...an advantage and at the same time a negative personality trait...that Jillian seems to have gotten from her father...being a slick liar; its a trait that's both sprung her out of trouble and won her quite a few little enemies...like Nixie. Jillian and Nixie hate each other, and that's probably not going to change anytime soon...Jillian REFUSES to even think about apologizing because in HER mind, it was all Nixie's fault and Nixie is just a bitch...and no amount of talk or convincing will ever make her see otherwise. More than once, she'd find herself staying to talk with one of them long after her own shift had ended....it just...really pained her heart to see what some of these kids had to go through...and so she would do everything in her power to make their lives there a little bit happier. Unlike her mom and sister...Haley is one of the most non-judgmental people you could meet; Haley is...one of the few of her friends and family that DOESN'T completely hate natural-borns...though her mom and grandmother are working hard to change that and to set her "right". To Haley...its just...sad that people in the time period have to undergo so much just because of how they were born...it doesn't seem fair to her and though she wouldn't ever admit it around Crysta or Charlise, Haley does feel sorry for those of natural-birth status. As to the extent of her pity though...its somewhat unclear...she often finds herself torn between her feelings and the other family members' never-ending lectures on how NATURAL BIRTH IS A BAD THING!!! There are times when she seems to side more with them...and times when she seems..more on the fence about the whole thing. Haley's a real bleeding heart....she always has a deep well of care and compassion not only for people, but animals too...the biggest instance being her befriending of a polar bear cub named Loki. So moved by his story of having been abandoned as a cub....Haley felt such compassion for him that she continued to visit him in the zoo long after she'd first been permitted to hold him under supervision. Even after Loki had fully grown...Haley still felt the same love and sympathy she'd had for him when he was a cub...and countless times, she would sit with the adult bear in his enclosure to talk to him or tell him a story or just to keep him company so he wouldn't have to be by himself. Haley was so driven by her need to look after and care for the "poor bear" that she didn't understand that their bond was growing somewhat detrimental to him and could pose a problem for the zoo's intention to release him back into the wild. She doesn't...understand the concept of killing someone with kindness...that sometimes, enough is enough, and that being TOO nice to people...is not always what's best for them or what they need or want. Haley tends to have a hard time coming to terms with this...its painful to her to see someone else hurting and her not being able to do something to help them...it just bothers her...she's one of those that loves making other people happy..although its worth saying that sometimes, she tries to hard to please everyone and unfortunately...that's almost never possible. If there's one thing she HATES, its arguments and conflicts...especially when they involve taking sides. Anytime a problem arises among her friends or companions, instead of taking a side, Haley will often stand in the middle ground and mediate...trying to get both sides to compromise...to find SOME common ground and not have to resort to fighting...though if that absolutely fails...you can bet that nine times out of ten, she'll step down and take no side at all. The driving force behind that...is that she's afraid that if she does, someone might get mad at her...and Haley...can't take people being angry at her, it just..hurts her..and it will bother her to the point where she will continue to apologize and ask forgiveness of that person until they forgive her. She hates conflict too...if it comes to a case where someone's made her upset or angry, she will NEVER confront that person...but rather, avoid them as much as possible so as to avoid a potential conflict. Its like...after she had her issue with Nixie....instead of going and talking to Nixie about it..Haley avoided her for the longest time because she was afraid that if she confronted her, she'd just make things worse or there'd be an argument or something HORRIBLE!! like that. She's extremely sensitive...more often than not she'll take criticism very personally and...if offended enough...she'll cry. Haley wears her emotions on her sleeves and is...definitely one of those who is very in touch with her feelings..she tends to make decisions based on how she feels about something rather than on logic...she thinks with her heart, not always her head. If she's sad, more likely than not, she'll shed some tears, regardless of whether she's alone or surrounded by friends; if she's happy, she'll be all cheery and bouncy and SO openly joyous; if (on the rare occasion where) she's mad at someone...she'll make it plain to see that she's upset. The bottom line is...Haley always shows what she's feeling..she's all but incapable of hiding her emotions; if she's happy, its obvious; if she's upset, its obvious etc. She's very much a typical little girl in the fact that she likes...rather, LOVES..Disney movies.....and she has a special place in her heart for the fairytales ones...you know..ONCE UPON A TIME and TRUE LOVE and HAPPILY EVER AFTER!! (Think movies like Enchanted) Those are her absolute favorites...and she's seen them more times than she can count...so much so that they have a real influence on her beliefs. Her views are very...optimistic..sometimes unrealistically so; she believes in things like true love and how its the most BEAUTIFUL thing in the world and how EVERYONE out there has a special someone...their other half... somewhere out there with whom their heart belongs and WITH WHOM they are destined to share in TRUE LOVE'S KISS!!1 She's naive in this respect...to the point where she doesn't understand why real life isn't more like the Disney movies she so loves. There's few things that make her happier than getting all her friends together and watching movies like this....and playacting out all her favorite scenes. And while Haley loves being around her friends and around other people in general...in social situations, she definitely plays more of a follower role than leader...Haley does NOT like to lead or be in charge..at all...like..she will not do it unless absolutely FORCED...and even then...it puts her under a lot of stress. She has a lot of difficulty making her own decisions...and doesn't like to make them on her own....more often than not, if asked to make a decision on something big, or even just STATE her opinion on something, she will defer the decision to someone else and ask THEM what she should do...usually Nixie...or Fluke..or Ryan...or her mom. This goes back to her whole thing about trying to make everyone happy...in her mind, if she were a leader, there's the possibility that someone might not like her idea or she might overlook someone or say something that might upset someone else or that not everyone agrees with and THEN there would be dissention...and conflict...things that Haley absolutely cannot deal with. Haley's way of dealing with problems...unfortunately...is to simply avoid them and pretend they don't exist; she's too afraid of causing conflict or making the problem worse to go and do something about it. Going back to the example of her fight with Nixie...she did just that; instead of TALKING things out, Haley avoided her because of her fear that confronting her would come to no avail. Put simply...Haley....is afraid of confrontation. In addition, while she may be one of the kindest and most non-judgmental people you will ever meet....her bravery leaves something to be desired, to say the least. For the longest time...she used to be terrified of the dark...to the point where it was sometimes so overwhelming that she would start to cry until her mom eventually came and lied down next to her and promised to buy her a night light. Yes...given the fact that the OVER!emotional stuff had so dominated her personality before...it seems strange then that Haley's very best friend...is someone like Nixie. Though the two got off to something of a rocky start...with Nixie not wanting anything to do with Haley and seeing her as sappy and obnoxious...Haley looked past that, and as she always seems to do, she saw the good in Nixie, and persisted in her efforts to befriend the other girl. In time, Nixie came to tolerate her...and tolerance grew into acceptance..and acceptance grew into friendship. As time went on, the unlikely pair seemed to influence each other, each one changing a little bit for the better. The more Haley got to know Nixie, the more she came to take on some of Nixie's better qualities....she came to become a little braver, to believe in herself a little bit more enough that she now...is learning to make decisions and opinions through her own judgment, rather than relying solely on someone else. Though still as in touch with her feelings as she's always been..Haley's come to be a little bit...more in control of her emotions. She doesn't weep over the tiniest things anymore...and whereas before, when first getting to know someone, she'd be all like HI MY NAME'S HALEY WANT TO BE FRIENDS?? n___n *hug*, she...can approach the same situation a little bit more civilly, introducing herself in a calmer but equally friendly manner, and shaking the person's hand instead of just up and hugging them...which can definitely make a better impression. The bottom line is...Nikhila loves to make other people happy...she'll go to the end of the world just to make someone else smile. Like..this one time she was out on a shopping trip...just picking up some stuff, when she noticed a mother and her young daughter in front of her in line. The daughter...was crying and holding onto a Barbie doll that she really wanted but her mom refused to buy for her...and Nikhila, without a second thought, went ahead and bought the doll for the little girl, much to the girl's happiness (and the mother's guilt sdffasd). After a moment, the mother offered Nikhila some money as payback, but Nikhila politely declined and told her it was okay. C: The truth was....just the fact that she had made that girl happy...that she'd made even a small difference in someone's life...that was payment enough for her. C: Another big defining trait...probably the biggest one of all with Nikki....is her compassion. She is....truthfully, one of the biggest bleeding hearts you could ever hope to meet....always filled with empathy and compassion for others (which is partly why she gives to all those charities...she's so deeply moved by those pictures of starving children and orphaned animals that she can't NOT support them)...and so sensitive to other people that its almost...as if she feels their emotions along with them. And to her....it really doesn't matter what someone looks like on the outside...in her mind, everyone is equal, and everyone should be treated with compassion and friendship; she's one of the rare few (one of the rare few Synthetically-born people in the New Era time period) that won't gag and turn the other way when she sees a 'disfigured' person...one of the few that won't snub or give degrading stares to someone just because they were born naturally. In truth...she feels sorry for them...deeply so...because in her mind, no one should be treated that way...a person's value shouldn't be measured by what's on the outside...but by who they are on the inside. Her compassion for these people runs so deep to the point where she's expressed it outwardly before. On one occasion....when Nikki was 8, she was out in the marketplace with her cousin Shanti...the two of them spotted a group of kids they knew from the Exclusive (Synthetically-born only) school they went to. Upon arrival into the group...Nikhila saw that they had been beating up on a small boy, curled up on the ground, who couldn'tve been any older than four. The group members claimed that they were teaching "that Natural" a lesson, but before any more fighting could occur, Nikhila..who was absolutely distraught at the sight, immediately went to the little boy and stood between him and the group...tears welling in her eyes as she pleaded with them to let him be...and that what they were doing was cruel. This of course...surprised everyone into silence...as Nikhila...putting all prejudice aside..hugged the poor little boy in her arms and reassured him that he was okay now. To her...it didn't matter that he may have been a natural-born...she still felt compassion and sympathy for him. This of course...didn't go over well in the least with Nikhila's father after he learned of the incident...nor did anyone else in the family approve. But then again...Nikhila's beliefs often seem to bring her at odds with people...not many people feel the way she does. It has a tendency to put her on the wrong side of the fence when it comes to 'correct' beliefs in this time period....though in spite of that...she still refuses to adopt "correct" beliefs...as long as those beliefs mean prejudice and cruelty. Nikki is just one of those people that CAN'T be mean...its not in her nature. Nikki really wouldn't hurt a fly....literally, she will release even the smallest and most insignificant little bugs that find their way into her home....because to her, they're as alive as she is, they have feelings and families just like she does...and they deserve to live just as much as she does. And speaking of the animal kingdom...its definitely worth saying that Nikki's always seemed to have a way with animals...her dad's a vet, maybe it runs in the family. Whatever the case may be though...Nikhila...LOVES animals...she seems to be a natural at her job working with them...even the largest ones seem to take to her right away...and Nikki loves her job more than anything in the world. Not just that either...anytime she's out..for a walk or something with her little companion dog, she'll always bring extra snacks to share with the stray cats and birds and any other animal she comes across...its not uncommon to see her sitting in the park..sharing lunch with ten or twelve squirrels and chipmunks. Nikhila's kindness extends even to the littlest of creatures....which is largely a part of the reason she's never eaten meat in her life...she's a strict vegetarian....which goes back to what I mentioned...Nikhila just..can't...bring herself to be mean. Anytime she feels she's done something wrong, she'll always be the first to apologize...even if whatever it was wasn't her fault. Like...this one time after getting massively chewed out by Charlise for her beliefs...Nikhila was the first one to go apologize to her for what happened, nevermind that it was Charlise's fault, if anything. Nikki....just felt so bad...she liked Charlise...and she wanted Charlise to like her too, and couldn't bear the fact that she was mad at her. That's the thing with Nikhila though....she wants to make everybody happy...she wants to be everyone's friend....she tries so hard and it really..really hurts her to have someone upset/angry with her...to the point where she will cry over it. She's...really emotional...the kind of person that bawls during Disney movies or when someone talks about abortion or euthanasing animals. Nikhila is definitely the type that makes decisions with her heart and...unfortunately not always her head....she bases her decisions on feelings and whether or not she FEELS it would be the right thing to do...which probably isn't always the best standard...and does make her somewhat childish....in the sense that she's really pretty naive. Fluke himself has virtually no temper to speak of....it would have to take something pretty damn serious even to phase him let alone upset him. Part of this comes from the fact that he's just so calm and easy-tempered to start with that anger really doesn't even register for him, and part of that is...a product of having been raised by a father like Dash, who always taught his son two things; live life to the greatest, and that no one is perfect-everyone deserves a second chance. Fluke's like his dad in that aspect too...though not as naive as Dash, he's an exceptionally forgiving person, very thoughtful and considerate, and is always willing to give someone another shot when they screw up. He seems to have a way with perceiving people too....like an intuitive kind of sense; he's good at seeing through people and the facades they put up....and looking at them for who they are. Its like..on the school's football team, Fluke was honestly the ONLY one that never ONCE had any animosity towards Rei in the beginning (when Rei was majorly slacking off to the point of hurting the team)...he knew that Rei was just frustrated and angry, and so instead of lashing out at him, Fluke was one of the first to befriend him...and Rei's still his buddy to this day. Another example would be the time of Nixie's major...screw-up involving Victor....which lead almost everyone else in the group...save for Fluke... to distrust her for a good while, and rightfully so. Fluke though...didn't see the incident as Nixie being a whore, but rather....that she just made a mistake, she was mad and let impulse get the better of her..and who's to say that doesn't happen to everyone? He was the first one to....talk to her about the issue, going out on his own to look for her and see if he couldn't set things right because honestly....Fluke was never mad at his cousin like everyone else was. Surprised...shocked maybe, but not angry....and in his mind, being angry at her would have accomplished nothing. Fluke is someone who doesn't see the point in grudges, he thinks they're just a waste of time and energy and that honestly, the time someone spends fuming around about someone else could be much better put to use elsewhere. He also has a dislike of conflict, and much like his cousin Shelley...Fluke often finds himself serving as mediator when a conflict arises...trying to convince both sides to back down. Like grudges, conflict and arguing is another thing Fluke finds pointless, for the fact that its just a great big waste of time that doesn't achieve anything except getting people mad at each other for nothing. And like...a good example of this would be that if she sees a problem happening in her research group at the marine biology center and no one’s doing anything about it, she’ll step into that leadership role and she will see to it that that problem gets resolved. While she’s normally perfectly alright with following a leader, if a problem arises that they can’t resolve, Shelley will step up and do that...which means...she does have a tendency to be a little bit ‘controlling’ at times. Its a classic example of how pure good intentions (her will to solve problems and make sure everything is going well) can manifest themselves in a not so good way...and most times, poor Shelley doesn’t even realize what it is she’s doing until someone points it out to her. She's one of those that...really identifies with other people's emotions...it hurts her to see other people in pain or upset. Like...after Nixie and Haley's confrontation, Shelley was the first one to go comfort poor crying Haley and reassure her that Nixie really wasn't as mean as she often seemed. Its...in her nature really to do that, to go out of her way to make sure someone else is okay...if she sees someone she feels is unhappy, she'll go over and..ask them if they're alright..you know..just talk to them. Shelley has a knack for seeing right through that....she's one of those rare people who can see past someone's exterior and view them for who they are inside. Going back again to her and Nixie....most people see Nixie as a bitch, hell NIXIE herself knows she's a bitch...so it caught her pretty off guard when Shelley once told her that Nixie and Haley (Nixie's sweet and compassionate best friend) weren't so different from one another. It goes to show...that Shelley wasnt seeing the arrogant bitch side of her cousin...but rather...the kinder side that few people have ever even witnessed let alone known existed. Its just..gotten to the point where he just tunes it out; to be honest, Ace doesn't care if people don't approve of his ways or agree to go along with him; if he's at the skatepark and he's the only one in the group who wants to take his board of the 50-foot-high ramp, or the only one that wants to go dive off a bridge, then he'll go straight on ahead and do that regardless of whether anyone else comes with him or not. After all, death-defying thrill ride > going along with the group. Most times though...the other boys do follow him..if for nothing else but to maintain their own pride instead of looking like babies for sitting out. Ace is definitely more of a leader type, the one that sets the bar and standards, the one that always goes first...whether that means being the first one of his buddies to attempt to fly off the roof on a miniature motorcycle, or..as is in most cases, being the first one to end up in the emergency room with yet another broken limb. But that's what happens...Ace takes EVERYTHING as a possible challenge; if he sees a tall building, his instinctive thought is to take it on with his skateboard, if another guy he knows claims to have gotten more air off the skatepark's 50-foot ramp, you can bet beyond a shadow of a doubt that Ace will IMMEDIATELY challenge him, right then, right now. Ace likes to live for the moment, take life as it comes, do things on impulse rather than plan and think...if he thinks something'll be fun, he'll do it without a second thought...he likes to have ACTION! and EXCITEMENT! in his life. He is...extremely competitive..extremely...and will go to absolutely no end to beat out the other person, no matter what limit he has to break in order to do that, he'll do it. Ace loves to compete with people...to the point where he'll just up and challenge someone to something, or brag about some accomplishment he made in order to bait the person into challenging him, just so he can take them up on the offer; competition..especially when it involves some kind of dangerous stunt...is just no end of fun for him. He hates to lose...though anytime he does happen to get beaten at something, he'll always blow it off with some excuse, saying that it was just a fluke, the other person got lucky, they could never really beat him. ;p And that...is a big act to conceal his ego and macho sense of pride in himself...if someone wins against him, he'll just go on to brag to them about this-that-or-the-other-stunt that he pulled off the other day, and how they could never do something like that. c; Its traits like this that can make him come off as EXTREMELY full of himself...much more so than he actually is. He also hates taking orders from people and, for the most part, following other people's leadership. The only time he'll ever play the follower role is if he's under the leadership of someone he sees as fit to lead or someone he perceives as a genuine authority figure...and this...has been known to cause problems every now and again at school. While Ace is intelligent as far as brain smarts go (maybe not so much in the common sense department), and does well enough academically, he'll slack big time when it comes to subjects he doesn't like (like writing papers in English or learning anything historical that doesn't involve some kind of EPIC!battle or war) or feels are useless...or if he just downright doesn't feel like doing a particular assignment, he won't do it. And he won't lie about it either, if a teacher comes by and asks why he didn't do the assignment, he'll just throw them a grin and say he didn't want to. His fearlessness can be a bad thing there too in that he's not afraid to tell one of his teachers that their subject is boring, refuse to do an assignment even when told, or talk back to them if challenged on something...which means he's frequently a rule-breaker...and something of a discipline problem; if he's not being challenged and he perceives the work as being so easy/pointless that its just wasting his time, he'll start to slack..a lot. Just as he makes his own fun outside of school though...Ace will find ways to make his own fun at school too...like setting up miniature ramps on his desk and trying to launch motorized Hot Wheels off of them and onto his buddies' desks..you can imagine how the teachers love that. He's not exactly the model of maturity...and often times, it shows...a lot. There are times when he'll be completely obnoxious just to irritate someone else...mainly his sister Nixie..the two of them aren't really close as you can imagine. He likes to goof off at school too...especially after one of the teachers has told him to stop. A lot of that goes back to the challenge thing....if a teacher tells him to quit interrupting, it'll only drive him to do it that much more...whether that means cracking jokes with his friends or asking a random/pointless question every thirty seconds JUST to be annoying...and to give the other kids in the class something to laugh about. He's not serious....like at all...and often has a hard time taking something seriously. Truth be told, in school and outside it, sometimes Ace just does things for attention, and there's no lie about that, he loves it when he's skateboarding off the roof of a building and there's a whole crowd and whatnot watching him, he loves being the one that everyone is focused on...its why he loves being in the lead so much, being the alpha male, the center of attention. And just as he'll go to great lengths to impress people...he'll go even further to impress those he likes...or likes as the case may be. When he's not off doing some crazy stunt, he's almost always found trying to flirt with chicasss ohhh yes he thinks he's quite charming. He's had so many different crushes he's lost count...he practically develops a new one every day...its rare to see him with the same one for too long...which means more than likely, his biggest challenge won't be jumping off a building or flying into the sky on a rocket-powered skateboard, but sticking with the same girl sdfdsad. To his credit though, the one thing he DOES do well is make them laugh...what with his extensive repertoire of corny pickup lines and all...and the fact that he really can be..quite charming. In her mind, her way is ALWAYS the right way, and so as a result, she has a tendency to be really pushy and opinionated...stubborn in the extreme...and won't hesitate to rip holes in someone else's ideas or beliefs in order to prove that they're wrong and she's right. Within her group of friends, her bossy arrogance quickly saw her become the 'leader' of their little pack...she's always the one telling the others what to do or putting them in their place if they need it; there's nothing she hates more than being talked back to. In social situations, Nixie tends to do the bulk of the talking, dominating the conversation with her own opinions and input....its...hard for her most of the time to just sit back and listen to what someone else has to say without VOICING her own input of how things should be. Nixie is definitely a leader type...she does NOT do well with taking orders at all. (Neither does Jillian...and that's part of what lead to their initial conflict) Anytime someone says something to her that she doesn't like or takes as an insult, Nixie will take it as a challenge and verbally attack the other person; she can argue/debate pretty strongly, and she won't stop until she feels she's made her point and let the other person know who's boss. Or, there'll be those times when she'll simply take to exasperating the person for the sheer hell of it...it always amused her when Jillian and her group would confront her, while Nixie wasn't afraid of them in the least. Part of that...comes from her own pride; her ego won't LET her lose an argument, she HAS to make sure that she either wins it, or gives the other person a taste of her mind. She is just one of those people who can NOT let things go...if someone does something to piss her off, she'll feel the need to retaliate until the other person eventually submits or backs off. Unfortunately, this makes for trouble when she meets someone else who's like this....as in with her rivarly with Jillian; neither one of them can swallow their pride and step down and apologize and as a result, their hatred of each other has persisted for more than two years...and counting. That's...one major downfall of Nixie's personality is that heightened and all-important pride of hers; its the reason she often doesn't think before lashing out at someone, its why she feels the need to get back at people she feels have offended her, and its the reason....she won't ever let people see her inner feelings. To Nixie, excessive displays of emotion are the same thing as showing weakness, and to show weakness....is to forfeit one's sense of pride. As a result of this...Nixie won't ever show it if she's hurt, be it physically or emotionally. One one occasion, when she was around seven, she cut her arm by accident on a scalpel in science class....receiving a pretty deep gash..definitely something you'd expect a seven-year-old girl to cry over...but Nixie didn't even allow herself to flinch let alone shed a tear. Though she was hell bent on dealing with the injury herself, by toughing it out, eventually, the teacher made her accept help from Haley...which infuriated Nixie so bad to have someone helping and feeling bad for her that she proceeded to tell Haley off pretty good at the end of it, snapping at her that she didn't need anyone's help aor pity. Going back to the pride...thing...Nixie hates accepting help from other people; the bottom line is, she doesn't like to trust her feelings to people and she doesn't like to admit that she's only human, and EVERY human needs help from someone else at SOME point in their life. Its not...so much that she's a bitch or a bad person....its more that she just...doesn't always know how to deal with her own feelings...she's not used to being really OPEN about them...she's never been the type to let people know what's going on inside. More often than not, she'll bottle up her real feelings inside rather than find a way to express them. Nixie's always been more of a thinker than a feeler anyways...if there's one good thing about her its definitely her intelligence; she's an excellent problem-solver and easily excelled in school, particularly in the electrical engineering program....which is no easy feat even for the kids smart enough to be placed in there. She's aware of her own aptitude too...has a lot of confidence in herself and her abilities and this makes her...really competitive...she loves trying to outdo other people whether that be in school or outside it. Given Nixie's personality....the last person you'd think she'd want to hang out with is her best friend, Haley. The two....didn't exactly have the greatest start..being so vastly different in personality..but over time, they started to get used to each other, and tolerance slowly grew into the beginnings of friendship. As the two grew closer, they started to influence each other more and more, and for a long time, not even realizing how the good traits of one seemed to rub off on the other. Over time, Nixie came to really care about her best friend, and the more she got to know her, the more...Nixie started to become more in touch with her own emotions and those of other people. She's become a little bit more sensitive, having learned to see things through other people's perspectives and not always through her own..and she's learned that...its OKAY and NORMAL to not be right 100% of the time. Moreover, she's learned to swallow her pride and apologize when its necessary....because while she won't admit it ever, she does often feel guilt over the times she's been a bitch to people...it does make her feel bad. Personality: Pierce is....the prince of Italy, future President-King, the country’s golden boy....and he definitely knows how to act the part. He definitely has a healthy sense of self-esteem and sheer confidence in himself...and that’s putting it lightly; it takes very little to boost his ego, especially when the press appears. Its worth saying though...that there’s a difference between regal self-confidence and self-obsession...in Pierce’s case, he does keep himself in check and thus, falls under the former....unlike his uncle Cyril (who, before Pierce’s birth, was supposed to assume the throne), which is largely in part due to the differences in how the two were raised. Cyril on the one hand, was told from birth that he was to be the king of one of Europe’s most influential countries, and as a result...came to become complacent, spoiled, and lazy. Pierce, on the other hand...wasn’t told of his royal status until he was around 7...and thus, instead of becoming a lazy brat like Cy was as a kid, Pierce became an accomplished young intern at the volcanology center, helped pioneer technological developments with the best of the field’s engineers, and on his own, developed a characteristic charm and charisma that would set him apart as a skilled leader...even at a young age. So of course, you can imagine how his already heightened sense of pride in himself shot through the roof when he was told he was to succeed his grandfather as Italy’s future king. He seemed to step right into the role of Prince, so much so that King Constantine would often call on his then-seven-year-old grandson for advice with a variety of issues....and every time, Pierce could give detailed advice that never failed to make his grandfather proud...he was already an excellent leader, speaker, and cunning strategist; the son Constantine wished he could have had. Its worth saying though...that so many of Pierce’s natural character strengths...were specifically chosen by none other than his godfather, King Victor (to whom Pierce was ceremoniously dedicated to at birth), who more or less took over the selection of specific traits for the Prince...so its little wonder then that so many similarities exist between the two...Victor saw to it that Pierce would have every one of his own strengths. This came true...not only in Pierce’s unfailingly strong and justly-felt pride, but also in his characteristic charm. He can talk his way out of just about any situation, whether that means using the truth, lying, or weaving the two together...and he’s exceptional at it...easily convincing people to see things his way, and winning them over to his side. One good example of this....is that on one occasion, when he was around seven or so, his second-grade class was holding elections for class president...and being that Pierce had won leadership positions in there so many times before, his teacher decided to...omit him as a candidate and give someone else a chance to win. Pierce, however, saw things differently....he felt strongly that HE was the best option for the position, and that with him in ‘power’, the class could accomplish so much more under his leadership. He saw the situation as a challenge...an opportunity to assert himself, and starting with his group of friends, he began to go about convincing them to ‘petition’ the teacher to let Pierce run for class president. Before long, through such subtle efforts, nearly all of the class opted for Pierce to win the position, and even those that weren’t in support...stepped down instead of running against him. In the eyes of Constantine and Victor, this was a major step in the right direction for the young boy; instead of simply expecting others to follow him, he was able to use his own charm and intellect to win strong supporters to his side...even without the use of force. That charm aspect...definitely gives him something of a winsome personality, which does show up a lot despite having so many of Victor’s traits. Unlike Victor, who seeks out power for the sake of his own personal gain, Pierce seeks out power because he strongly believes that his own views and ideas are what’s best...that his intentions are for the greater good. This approach...is often part of what allows him to be so winsomely persuasive, even in front of a camera..as he’s experienced so much in his life. He also seems to have...quite a way with girls...especially once he hits his older form (16)...having many...many girlfriends and lovers...and even earning himself the nickname, the "Playboy Prince". He's..quite proud of his...studly reputation..most definitely.
